Writing Placement Process
- The Writing Placement Process consists of two impromptu essays during a single session that asks students to address similar tasks to those they will encounter in university writing generally. Typically completing the two essays takes students between one to two hours to complete. All WSU students needing to take a first-year writing course must enter the Writing Placement Process for appropriate assignment to English 100, 101, 104, or 105.
- Visit Writing Placement Process for more information, including exception requirements
- The administration fee is charged to students’ accounts.
- Note: Students on the Everett, Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver campuses should sign up for a Writing Placement session on their home campus. Visit Writing Assessment Contacts.
